T wasn't feeling well last night so I offered to make 'kal guksoo' for dinner, thinking it would be easier on his stomach. For the past several years, we've been spoiled by the large Korean grocery stores by our cities (San Francisco, Boston, and Washington DC) where you can get pretty much anything you can get in Korea. It's certainly more of a challenge here in Nairobi but we are still very lucky to have found a small Korean grocery store run by the Seoul Guesthouse (located across from the YaYa Center). Still, some improvisation was in order as dried noodles and canned clams had to be used in place of their fresh counterparts. Combined with vegetables from our local Kenyan grocery store, we ended up with a motley crew of steaming soupy deliciousness.
